DTLA: Curry at Fat Spoon
When Fat Spoon first opened, I was like a kid in the candy store getting all the add-ons (see sides).
Recently I went back and though it was just before the foie gras ban, I decided I really wanted curry and not the foie gras pasta. I opted for the hamburger curry which was a beef patty. You could make it “loco moco” style by adding a fried egg. It was later when speaking to a friend she mentioned she usually gets two fried eggs as the patty is so huge. I bow down to her wisdom. Next time!
Now how to eat the curry. I happen to like tart things so the pickled stuff all goes in my bowl- the pickled pearl onions and radish are my favorite. Since I didn’t add any vegetables this time (I probably should have gone for the spinach and mushrooms), I treated the pickles a bit like my veg serving for lunch. And doesn’t acid bring down the glycemic acid of food? Okay, I’m going to keep telling myself that as I get through this rich curry.
Next time I’m trying the beef tongue curry. I wonder if there’ll be some underground foie though?
