DTLA: A Quickie at Tacos Mexico
After bar hopping through the new Ace Hotel, it seemed only natural to make a tacos stop at neighboring Tacos Mexico. The three of us ordered a number of tacos and I wanted everything (con todo) with mine including the salsa. I have to say I had no idea how spicy their salsa was going to be. I am going to get the salsa on the side next time.
I did play it safe by ordering just al pastor and carne asada tacos. I wasn’t in the mood for “weird meats” though I usually love those sort of tacos best. The al pastor was pleasingly moist and greasy. The carne asada weren’t bad. If I didn’t have so much salsa on my tacos, I probably would have a better indication of flavor. I did admire the sturdy tortillas which held up all the ingredients admirably.
Tacos Mexico is part of a large Southern California chain that has some locations in Las Vegas. The one on Broadway is currently open during remodeling. I hope that means they’ll add a salsa bar where I can add salsa on my own. They do keep sliced radish and lime wedges out so I was able to customize my post bar hopping snacking experience.
