Lobster Roll at Santa Monica Seafood
Santa Monica Seafood is a staple in the community. I’ve been a few times for lunch and it wasn’t too far from Chestnut Club. The restaurant sells fresh seafood and other deli items. There are some tables and if it gets crowded, you can always try sitting at the bar.
My friend ordered a lobster roll and the Manhattan clam chowder. Although we both prefer lobster rolls with butter instead of mayo, this was a good one. There was plenty of lobster and the fries were great.
I go back and forth on which chowder I prefer. Maybe it was all those years of growing up eating New England clam chowder but I do prefer the creamy one over the red Manhattan version. However, this was very fresh and it was full of clams.
I have been loving all the salads I’ve gotten around town. Fresh produce really makes a difference. The lightly dressed side salad was amazing with sweet tomatoes, sliced radishes, cubed cucumber and fresh greens.
Nothing makes me happier than a big bowl of seafood. And so I got the ciopinno. I ended up with the regular sized bowl because our server assured me it had lots of seafood. And it did. I did wonder though about that large size …
