Kansas City: Mussels at Potpie
After drinks (and snacks) at Bluestem next door, we decided to get dinner at Potpie which was right next door. However they were super busy so we put in a to-go order of mussels and of course, pot pie. I opted for chicken.
Normally Potpie doesn’t let people take out the mussels but my friend lives nearby so we were able to get those babies home before the dish got too cool. The broth was well flavored and I’m glad we got bread to sop up the juices. Mussels were on the smaller side but it could be the time of year.
I didn’t think I was that hungry but we three demolished the potpie in minutes. It’s comfort food done very well. The pot pie had a light flaky crust and awesome gravy. My friend says it’s even better at the restaurant (and served in a prettier dish).
If I’m ever in KCMO again, I’d like to eat at the restaurant. It seemed like a happening place buzzing with a good Friday crowd who were on their way to the Westport Art Fair or just back from it.
