Five Food Fests For You – October 2017

 

DTLA Oyster Festival at Grand Central Market

 

The food’s coming! The food is coming! Look out for these five food festivals coming this weekend and next in October. First we have the annual Oyster Festival at Grand Central Market centered around Oyster Gourmet at the Grand Central Market in Downtown Los Angeles.

The two-day festival runs October 14 and 15. Not only can you try different varieties of oysters at the funky steampunk-esque stand, you can try other oyster specials around the marketing including a po boy pizza at Olio, fried curry oysters at Prawn (the renamed Bombo from Chef Mark Peel) and baked oysters from Horse Thief BBQ.

There’s also a screening of The Oyster Farmers Saturday night at 8 p.m.

Oozefest returns this Saturday, October 14 to the Santa Ana. This year, the all-things cheesy, Oozefest will be held at the Main Place Mall in Santa Ana. There are only two VIP sessions this year. The all-you-can-eat sessions are 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 -10:30 p.m.

Some vendors include The Iron Press, Shuck Oyster Bar, Hatch, Pie-Not, Slapfish, Euro Cafe, Bruxie, Creamistry and so many more!

Main Place Mall, Santa Ana

  • Session 1- 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.
  • Session 2 – 7:30 -10:30 p.m.

Sprinkles cupcake on the Santa Monica Pier, home of the Off the Hook Seafood Festival

Also on Saturday is the Off the Hook Seafood Festival happening at the Santa Monica Pier. The event starts at 4 p.m. (early admission for VIP) and goes until 7 p.m. Seafood from vendors such as Herringbone, The Albright, Boa, Del Frisco Grille, The Lobster, Enterprise Fish Company and more! VIP also gets additional food in the lounge from Fig (Fairmont Miramar), Red O and Tar & Roses.

There’ll be games, live music, wine tastings from 10+ vineyards, beer and spirit tastings.

Taste of Italy at Pico House

And then finally Saturday night, there’s the 9th Annual Taste of Italy in DTLA (here’s a recap from 2014). The evening event starts at 5 p.m. and goes until 10 p.m.

This is the festival to be at if you love Italian food. Get tastes from Angelini Osteria, DeSano Pizza, Drago Centro, Nerano and so many more! Enjoy drinks from Peroni Beer and Fernet-Branca plus wine! There’s also entertainment from LA Opera and others.

And the last food festival to check out in October is the EastSide Food Festival on Sunday, October 22! Some vendors include Button Mash, Cafe Birdie, Fat Dragon, Home State, Kettle Black, Little Beast, Momed, Ohana Poke Company, Winsome and more! And check out the cocktails with Amaro Angeleno.

This year ESFF added a Cannabis Corner for an additional $15 to the ticket price.
