Chicago: Deep Dish at Pizzeria Uno

sausage deep dish

One late night in Chicago, we were in the mood for deep dish. Our hotel was right around the corner from Pizzeria Uno so we headed there. When I’m in Chicago, I have to have my deep dish pizza. Yes, it’s not like my generally favorite thin crust but I have a fondness for this solid, Midwestern fare. I also love Chicago dogs and Italian beefs as well. Luckily I live in Los Angeles where I don’t go overboard on the comfort food.

I hadn’t been to Uno’s before so I was excited to see how it compared to other spots I’ve been to.

The four of us ordered a sausage pizza with bell peppers, mushrooms and onions on just one side.* While it was good, I felt there was possibly just a bit too much sauce. I also would have liked more sausage. Maybe I am used to the pies over at Lou Malnati’s but my search for the best deep dish continues. Next time I’m in Chicago, I’ll have to try all those “new” spots now that I’ve tried all the classic deep dish restaurants.

**All right, possibly we had too many toppings. It’s the Californian in me.
