Santa Barbara: Bloody Marys and Brunch at Brophy Bros.

Bloody Mary

Last year I went to Santa Barbara for a day and fell in love with simple but good food at On the Alley, the casual shop and sister stand to Brophy Bros. When I returned this year for a long weekend, I knew I wanted to get brunch at Brophy Bros. There was quite the wait but it actually went by fairly quickly. We were able to get seats outside overlooking the dock at the Santa Barbara Harbor.

To start, I got a Bloody Mary with a local vodka.

Everything smelled so good but we restrained ourselves to the hot combo which includes beer-boiled shrimp, steamed clams, oysters Rockefeller and mussels. My favorite turned out to be the oysters Rockefeller. I usually find these too bready but were more yummy garlic and spinach.

We also split the albacore tuna melt. I also enjoyed the fries and the cole slaw.  This was the ideal amount of food and gave us enough energy to go estate sale shopping and art gallery hopping.
