Santa Barbara: Dinner and Drinks at The Lark
We went to the Lark for my birthday dinner in Santa Barbara. It’s in the busy Funk Zone area of Santa Barbara. I loved that they offered us popcorn while we perused the menu.
I’m such a sucker for chicken wings that I order them all the time. However, it’s rare I see duck wings! So I had to get these with the Thai chili and ginger glaze. They were confit so they were falling off the bone tender.
I love my veggies and was very enthused by the lobster mushrooms dish. The wild rice and lobster roe could have made this a main course dish rather than a shared appetizer.
While driving around Santa Barbara gallery hopping, I noticed the Hope Ranch area. So these mussels from Hope Ranch were super fresh. They were served in a cioppino style broth with tender squid.
Then we went whole hog or cow, I should say. We got the ribeye for two that came with plenty of fixings. Great peppers, corn and a side of baked beans.
I know we ordered a lot of food for two but it was my birthday and I love trying as many dishes as possible. I don’t know when I’ll be back to Santa Barbara but it’s always going to be on the list. I do want to try their sister pizza place next time, Lucky Penny.
For dessert, we had the luscious ooey gooey butter cake. You know when you take that first bite and your eyes light up? Well, this cake caused our eyes to sparkle.
