Koreatown: Wings and Wedges at Kyochon Chicken

large order of wings
After a movie one night, we wanted to get a snack so we stopped at Kyochon. Wow, this location in Koreatown (corner of Serrano and 6th Streets) has sit-down service at night. It’s in the same shopping center as the crazy busy Hae Jang Chon BBQ so you can imagine what the parking lot is like.
For the two of us, we got a larger order of soy garlic wings. I remember 10 years ago when Kyochon and other Korean fried chicken spots opened, I went on a crawl to find the best. Kyochon was definitely up there. Through the years, we’ve witnessed a fried chicken craze starting with fried chicken sandwiches and now currently Nashville hot chicken. At first taking a bite of Kyochon after so many years of eating other kinds of fried chicken (I’m rather fond of Japanese fried chicken, karaage), it didn’t seem as special as I remembered.
But by the fifth wing, I was back on board. Especially since you eat the wings with bites of addicting pickled radish.

wedges
We also got white rice in addition to the wedges. This was a small order! But we couldn’t finish our wings or wedges. It turns out there is a limit of fried food you can have late at night…
I still loved our naughty late night snack though.
