Little Tokyo: 50% Off Top Shelf at Wolf & Crane

Ambrosia
It’s Japanese Food Week on The Minty but first let’s head to the bar. I haven’t been to Japan but have always wanted to check out the bar scene there. Until I actually get to the land of the rising sun, I have this neighborhood gem, Wolf and Crane in Little Tokyo.
I recently stopped by and discovered they have 50% off top shelf booze on Mondays.
Friends ordered cocktails and I have to say they’re much better than when I remembered from their opening a few years ago. My group liked the Ambrosia, a boozy rum and tea drink. I meant to ask the bar what the orange peel liqueur was. I’ll have to go back a Monday or maybe on a Sunday when they do all night happy hour!
Ambrosia – rum, hibiscus, yuzu tea, orange peel liqueur, cinnamon, lemon

dram of Lagavulin 16
But I kept things neat, I chose the Lagavulin 16 which on Top Shelf Mondays was only $11 (normally $22). I then had the Ichiro’s Malt and Grain also for $11 (normally $22).

Heavenly Haze
One of our friends got the Heavenly Haze. I thought it was interesting the gin was infused with rice. Why wouldn’t you use a shochu then?? Still, it was a nice refreshing drink. If you normally get high balls, you might want to try this upgrade. It had a lot of depth of flavor.
Heavenly Haze – rice infused-gin, chamomile, simple syrup, soda, bay leaf

Ringo
We also really enjoyed Ringo. Actually, this might have been the group favorite. And I do love celery bitters!
Ringo – Suntory Toki Japanese whisky, apple, five spice powder, celery bitters, lime
I’ll be back for Tuesday whiskey flight night!
