The Minty’s Tequila Tuesday Spotlight: Codigo 1530

blanco margaritas
I was invited to the Codigo 1530 tequila launch last year. For today’s Tequila Tuesday spotlight, I’m going to go through their available expressions. I recently noticed Codigo is at retailers like Target about a month ago.
The party was at a beautiful house in the hills with spectacular views. We enjoyed margaritas in the backyard before heading inside for the tasting.

Codigo Tequila
This tequila was enjoyed privately by several families in the Amatitan area of Mexico. It’s distilled in the same area as Herradura. A couple of families loved it so much, they wanted to share it with the world.
Most likely you’ll find the blanco and reposado on the market fairly easily. The one that caught my eye was the one they called the rosa tequila, an innovation I haven’t seen elsewhere yet.

Codigo 1530 Blanco – this is a good one for mixing
Codigo 1530 Rosa – aged in French white oak barrels which formerly held Napa Valley cabernet
Codigo 1530 Reposado – aged for 6 months
Codigo 1530 Anejo – aged for 18 months
Codigo 1530 Origen – this is an extra anejo which has been aged for 6 years

Rosa Cosmopolitan
After the tasting, we headed back to the patio for live music and food. I had a cosmo made with the rosa tequila. This was nice with the paella we had.
