DTLA: Chili Cheese Fries at Cassell’s Hamburgers

chili cheese fries

Cassell’s has opened a location in Downtown Los Angeles. The DTLA location is right across the street from the Freehand hotel and it takes over the old Pellicola pizza spot.

I visit the one in Koreatown quite regularly and my order is always the patty melt. However I was swayed to order the chili cheese fries which were great. They came topped with plenty of cheese, pico de gallo and a lot of avocado! Yum!

DFC fried chicken sando

My friend had the DFC fried chicken sando with the “crack” sauce on the side. If you like fried chicken sandwiches, this is a good one. It’s super crispy and I liked the tangy slaw.

patty melt

Why do I love patty melts? Well, this one is 1/3 of a pound and it’s so pure beefy goodness. Plus the cheese (I always get cheddar) gets crisped up like a giant cheese chip. It’s simple but so very good.

sweet potato fries

The only thing I wasn’t into were the sweet potato waffle fries. They get dusted with sugar and that was a bit weird for me. That’s okay, we had lots of chili cheese fries!

I’m really enjoying this block around the Freehand. Not only do they have great bars and a restaurant but now there are other places to nosh around it. That’s a plus for anyone staying at the hotel. Or for nearby office workers looking for more lunch options.
