Return to Vesper Bar

One of my favorite bars is the Vesper Bar at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.

George at the Vesper

I’m afraid this is not going to be a wonderful and educational post as once again, none of these cocktails by George have names. He says he’ll sit down one day and brainstorm some names. Until then, I’m calling these first drinks “sweet cocktails.” They were made for my friend K who dragged me to Vegas last weekend for approximately 24 hours. During this time, I consumed a somewhat hearty breakfast, three bites of a crepe and had no lunch or dinner. Let’s go cocktailing. It’s going to be so fun!

George's spin on a Negroni

After K requested “sweet,” I went with  my usual “bitter.” However, I didn’t specify anything else. George made me his spin on a Negroni. The slight bitterness from the Campari woke me up and eased me into what would turn into a long night. I should perhaps mention this was a Saturday night and I hadn’t had any booze since Wednesday. Oh, let’s not forget I had 3 hours of sleep that day. Yay?

Minty's Cocktail #2

Next up, I was introduced to a new vermouth. This is Vermouth Perucchi from Spain. This cocktail was also made with Miller’s Gin. Notice the nearly empty bottle– I swear I didn’t drink it all!

Minty's Drink #3

At some point, we missed our friends at dinner so we continued drinking. We were going to the Marquee club upstairs later so it was a good idea not to move from the Vesper?

Opening Act

Andrew Pollard is the General Manager of Vesper Bar. He made me his Opening Act. This is a nice drink with Domaine de Canton and I wished I was poolside with the refreshing minty drink.

Minty's Cocktail #? Oh yeah, that cocktail.

finished drink with rye, Lillet, Amer Torani

Hey, what do you know? I can tell you what’s in this cocktail! George used Russell’s Rye, Lillet and Amer Torani. My kind of cocktail.

-Interlude-

Minty goes upstairs.

And up. And up. And up. She arrives at Marquee and realizes there are only chicks. After some awkward standing around. After dancing. After a meh whiskey soda. After. After. Okay, time to go.

Pizza!

-interlude over-

beer cocktail

And we’re back at the Vesper. As mentioned in my Pizzaria post, I decided to rejoin the fine folks at Vesper for one last cocktail. George handed me a beer cocktail since he saw I was having my much needed pizza.

Oh wait, this is the last cocktail

Hey y’all, are you still with me? This is the last cocktail. It’s Buffalo Trace bourbon, Chartreuse VEP, Chartreuse Elixir Vegetal. Oh man, this was LOVE. Unfortunately, I had lost all my Minty minions at this point and had to go find them. I gifted the bar folk with my cocktail. I figured there’s always next time.

I didn’t taste this basil black salt drink but it looked great.
