Spring Street Bar
Taking over the space formerly occupied by a wine bar, Spring Street Bar opened its doors about a month and half ago. What took me so long to get down there? I’m not sure. Oh yeah, I know why, I don’t drink beer.
Well…
I’m much more of a cocktail sort of girl but they are expecting to get a full liquor license so I’ll visit again. This past Tuesday, I ordered two beers I knew I would like.
I started with the Black Butte Porter while I contemplated what to eat. I had a panini earlier that day from Drago Centro so I wasn’t too keen on another sandwich but it was pretty much all they offer in terms of “grub.” I have heard they’re working on the menu though.
A friend ordered the pretzel to share and it wasn’t bad. I do wish it was a little bit crisper and the middle was very soft. I loved the whole grain mustard it was served with though.
I grudgingly got the roast beef which came with a choice of potato or pasta salad. I went with potato and really enjoyed it. It was my favorite thing I ate that night. It probably has to do with the fact they used that marvelous mustard in it.
I had a bit of mustard left from the pretzel to slather on the bread for the sandwich. It picked it up quite a bit. I think it seriously needed something else because it tasted just like meat and bread. No crunch from the lettuce or onions. Hell, add some mustard!
I really like this part of Downtown. There’s so much going on and this spot seems legit.
