On the Hunt for Perfect Mac & Cheese
A couple of months ago I talked about my lack of mac and cheese addiction yet I eat it all the time because I have friends who must have it.
After Taste of the Nation, we went to the after party and then created an after-after party at Ford’s Filling Station.
It was Sunday and they were featuring BBQ. Although I had the intention of just eating a salad, I love a ‘cue. And had to have some baby back ribs and sausage. I ended up eating the great kale and mac and cheese and saved the meat for lunch the next day.
The mac was very comforting. Exactly the sort of creamy mac and cheese you want. It was great but probably not good after the long day of indulgence.
I’m still on the hunt for the perfect mac and cheese. I might just have to do a crawl.

I hate Mac & Cheese. My mother made the worst recipe. And my boys couldn’t get enough of the blue box kind. But on a whim, I tried Pete’s Mac & Cheese and it was wonderful. (Pete’s Cafe and Bar on South Main, Downtown LA)
A crawl might be nice.

I’m not a big fan of macaroni and cheese, although I admit I do like it baked and crunchy, casserole-style. There’s a couple of unique takes on it that are worth checking out, if nothing else for the fun of it. The Grilled Cheese Truck has a Cheesy Mac and Rib Melt sandwich that actually features mac and cheese in the sandwich (http://www.trippyfood.com/2010/05/13/smile-and-say-cheese/), and the WorldFare Bustaurant has Truffle Mac and Cheese Balls (http://worldfare.com/week-fare/) that are deep fried golden brown and served as a side. If you do a crawl, be sure to let us know where the good stuff is hiding.

Just tried Mac & Cheeza on 8th. It was really great. Very minimal seating inside. I had the babymac with green onions and bacon. Nummy.
