The Minty’s Favorites: Updates on Mo-Chica, Lazy Ox and Cole’s
A couple of weeks ago, I managed to use a Blackboard Eats deal on the day it was to expire for Mo-Chica, one of my favorite lunch places. I got the daily meal which that day was sea bass with lentils.The fish was sparkling fresh and I couldn’t stop eating the lentils.

In a little over a year, Lazy Ox has rapidly become one of LA’s favorite restaurants. I find myself returning over and over to experience what new eats Chef Josef comes up with. Last week, we dropped in for dinner and I spied not just bone marrow but crispy bone marrow. What was it? Who cares! I had to have it. It turned out to be scooped out marrow, lightly breaded and fried. Served with brussel sprouts charmingly pried off one “petal” at a time with a mound of fresh mushrooms. It was definitely our favorite dish of the night. But the chicken salad, farro, polenta tacos and other dishes were just as savory. Check out my flickr set.

After catching 33 Variations at the Ahmanson on Saturday, we went to Cole’s for an apre show snack. I didn’t feel like a dip though my friend had half of a lamb dip and the mac and cheese. I saw they had chili. And I know they have fries. Do they have chili cheese fries? Yes, they do! I do have to say I would have liked my CCF without the beans but I did like the really chunky chili and the big globs of meat. Score one for Cole’s!
