Dinner at Jar
I checked out Jar for their Blackboard Eats special last week. The special $35 prix-fixe menu included a choice of soup of the day or geme lettuce salad, entree (pot roast, wild salmon, chopped sirloin or coq au vin) and butterscotch pudding or ice cream sundae for dessert. For an extra $5, you got a glass of wine. I opted for the delicious cabernet sauvignon (Rosenblum, Vintner’s Cuvee, 2008).
I visited with a friend whom I hadn’t seen in a while. Over our gem lettuce salads, we talked about our busy lives and made plans to try to tackle this dating thing. You think it’d be easy for someone who hosts singles events. But LA is a tough town for love.
My friend chose the roasted salmon because she really wanted the pea tendrils that came with the course. I opted for the pot roast which was good but could have used a few more slices of onions. I had debated the chopped sirloin which seemed awesome with a fried egg and creamed spinach. Next time.
We ended with a sweet note, cheered by each other’s company and the dessert. I liked both but slight preference to the butterscotch pudding.
You just might see the Minty Dating Machine out and about next.
