Orange County: Nem Nuong Rolls at Brodard

pork spring rolls aka nem nuong

While on the way back from San Diego, we stopped at Brodard for pork spring rolls (nem nuong). I’ve heard about these rolls at Brodard for years and always wanted to try them.

Nem nuong are Vietnamese spring rolls wrapped with grilled pork, lettuce and a crispy tube (think of the wrapper of an egg roll). It’s dipped in this delicious garlic-y sauce.

We first stopped at the location in Garden Grove but it has now turned into Lotus Vegetarian and they directed us to the location in Fountain Valley.

This location was super crazy packed and it took over 30 minutes to get my 6 rolls. However, it was Super Bowl Sunday and I suspect all the huge to-go orders going out were for parties. Still, I thought it was worth the wait.

If I was in the neighborhood, perhaps I’d stop in and check out more of the menu. The bar had more open seating and would be a good option for solo diners or couples. Or there’s always the take out option. As you can see, we ate these in the car… on our way to our actual lunch. Call it an appetizer on the go.
