Chicago: Bar Hop Between CH Distillery to Three Dots and a Dash

CH Distillery

When I was at Eataly earlier in the week, I noticed some drinks made with CH Distillery and then I saw it sold both at Eataly’s market place and at the local Whole Foods.

I decided to do a tasting of their aperitifs and digestifs. I chose the CH Amaro, Fernet-Dogma, Rubin and Bitter Dog.

Carolina On My Mind – CH Distillery

One of my favorite travel partners opted for Carolina On My Mind. We’re bourbon buddies and I knew she’d like this drink. It’s a tad sweeter than I would like it but it was very refreshing.

Carolina On My Mind – CH Distillery bourbon, mint, peach, lemon

Jessie’s Girl – CH Distillery

Our other friend is into gin so she got Jessie’s Girl. Fun name, fun drink.

Jessie’s Girl – CH Distillery London Dry gin, strawberry, mint, celery

CH Distillery is near Avec, one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. It was a great meal and it was nice to end with a drink at CH Distillery. I’m glad I got to try their stuff.

Three Dots and a Dash

Then we headed back to downtown to check out Three Dots and a Dash. I had gone to Lost Lake the night before and wanted to see the bigger tiki bar in town. The bar’s entrance is in the alley. It’s not a speakeasy per se as you’ll spot it with the door guy and the tiki torches. We didn’t make reservations but luckily it wasn’t too busy.

It was fairly loud with club music playing. The bar itself was packed and I was a little bummed out we didn’t sit at the bar.

Three Dots and a Dash

We decided on drinks basically by mug. Or maybe that was just me. My bourbon buddy ended up with a cachaca and rum drink while our gin lover stuck to her guns and had a Royal Hawaiian which is gin based. I really wanted to buy a mug for my tiki mug collection but the ones at Three Dots are quite pricey. I settled for taking lots of pics of my cute Cobra’s Fang.

The Cobra’s Fang has fassionola, a syrup of many fruits including strawberry, mango, passionfruit, pineapple, hibiscus and lime. I thought my drink was quite delightful.

Aloha Felicia #3 – cachaca, Caribbean rum, coconut, Amontillado sherry, lime, pineapple

Royal Hawaiian – Navy strength gin, orgeat, pineapple, lemon

Cobra’s Fang – 151 proof demerara rum, lime, passionfruit, tangerine, fassionola, falernum, absinthe, bitters

We had a good time but my fave tiki bar in Chicago is still Lost Lake.
