Venice: Drinks at Tasting Kitchen

Tasting Kitchen

Every now and then The Minty hits the Westside. I have a few favorite bars in the area including Scopa Italian Roots (and Old Lightning), The Chestnut Club but I always try to find reasons to go to the Tasting Kitchen. And it’s always delightful to find bartender Justin Pike there. I’m finding more of my favorite bartenders are moving around to new bars or they become brand ambassadors. So it’s always nice to be welcomed by long time bartenders who are working at treasured spots.

Scissor Kick

It’s so funny when people say they don’t like sweet drinks but love tiki style drinks. I suppose I’m guilty of that then. I loved the Scissor Kick which was creamy but still had a enough bitterness than it tempered the sweetness.

Scissor Kick – rum, coconut, Green Chartreuse, pineapple

We also had a couple of cocktails that hit my happy meter. I loved The Curve Ball with rum and Montenegro. I also liked my friend’s drink, Earl the Pearl which has a great name. That one is essentially a Manhattan variation.

The Curve Ball – Jobu’s rum mix, Amaro Montenegro, lime rinse, honey

Earl the Pearl – 100 proof rye, bianco vermouth, Jerry Thomas bitters

I hope to get to the Westside more often. And when I do, I’ll be sure to stop into the Tasting Kitchen again.
