Fundraiser for the Must Tomorrow

Tomorrow from 7-11 p.m., there will be a fundraiser for the displaced staff of the Must Bar in Downtown Los Angeles. The fundraiser will take place at the Farmers and Merchants Bank at 401 s. Main, Los Angeles, CA 90013.

For those unfamiliar with what happened, here are the posts on Blog Downtown and Blogging LA. Initially it was believed the Must was robbed last weekend over the July 4th holiday. Now it’s a lease dispute.

I’m not a lawyer and these are just my opinions but I find it incredible that the master lease holder could just come in the middle of the night and essentially STEAL the contents of the Must Bar. Even if they gave laughable notice (in the form of a letter sent the Friday before a holiday weekend), the whole situation smacks of inappropriate and morally questionable behavior.

I’ve been to the Must Bar quite a few times and have always enjoyed the food. I’ve once emailed the owners about the availability of their wine jello shots during happy hour and they told me they could be made quickly. That’s the kind of response I like from my neighborhood wine bar. I feel bad this happened to them.
