Sweet Potato Fries Showdown
On Sunday, I set out to find the best sweet potato fries in Hollywood. I originally had 5 spots scheduled but due to some horrible traffic conditions, no-shows and many distractions, we ended up at 2 of the 5. So the crawl became a showdown.
First up was the sweet potato fries from Kitchen 24. Covered with a bit of salt and a tad expensive at almost $5 a pop, these fries were quite delicious. I liked that they were thin and crispy.
One of the Minty crawlers noticed the sweet potato fries at this Hollywood location of Umami didn’t have a fine dusting of brown sugar. She said the one in Santa Monica adds brown sugar to the fries. These were definitely more “sweet potato-y.” I prefer my fries to be crisper.
So although Umami has the better burger, Kitchen 24’s sweet potato fries were better. Plus, they have chili cheese fries and this wondrous fries concoction known better as disco fries.
Disco fries by all that is holy, are fries covered in gravy and cheese. All we’re missing are the curds. Otherwise, we’d have a fine poutine.
