West 3rd: All New Drinks at Goldie’s and That Burger!
It’s been a minute since I’ve been back to Goldie’s. The West 3rd staple has a brand new drinks list. We were invited to explore the new cocktails which are smartly named after their hues.
And while I was there, I had a really wonderful burger with extra crispy fries. Win win!
Let’s start with The Pink. I gravitate towards anything grapefruit and it definitely drew my eye with the sprinkling of black pepper. The vodka plays well with slightly bitter Aperol and bracing sherry.
The Pink – Square One vodka, Aperol, fino sherry, grapefruit, lemon, black pepper
Keeping up with the trends, the Clear makes use of clarification and the results are fantastic. Old Forest bourbon doesn’t just play well with others but it seduces, marries and lives happily ever after with them. I’m guessing this milk punch will be the best seller. The process does take 3 days so it’ll be in limited supply. Get one while you can.
The Clear – Old Forester bourbon, Pernod absinthe, pineapple, lemon, clarified house milk blend
Oh, did I mention that burger already? I know, I just wanted to show you that burger again.
Is it gin time? Then go for the Green (always a wise choice, money wise) and head on down to the patio with your cooling tipple. I really like the green tea with lemon verbena in this soothing drink.
The Green – Beefeater 24 gin, green tea, lemon verbena, lemon, orange bitters
Amber might make you think mellow but think again. It’s actually a pretty fiery passionate color and the drink, The Amber, matches with a spicy mix of mezcal and fresno chile. Add in watermelon and rooibos tea to cool you down, this is another patio sipper.
The Amber – mezcal, watermelon, rooibos tea, lime, agave, fresno chile
After that giant burger, I needed a digestive. Cue the Black; an amari lover’s dream. This is your booze nerd’s drink with lots of bitterness. Yum.
The Black – Fernet, Amaro CioCiaro, Carpano Antica sweet vermouth, maldon salt, mint, orange oil
