I have over 40 vacation days right now. Sadly, I don’t have any upcoming long vacations but I do have a couple of short get-aways planned. In the meantime, people have been tossing around the word “staycation.” What better staycation than drinks and food at a posh restaurant that transports you (not literally) to a sexy beach resort. My favorite cocktail is the Blood Sugar Sex Magic. A vacation in a glass. Ahh.
I didn’t know what to make of this soup at first but it sure is tasty with gently bobbing bits of foie gras and shaved truffles.
I’ve been on a mussels kick lately. These mussels were plump and had the most addicting sauce. We had already eaten most of our tortillas (so pretty with the flowers) so I wish I had some left to sop up the delicious buttery sauce.
The elote flan with the quinoa was so delicate and lovely. And I didn’t mind the tamal even though it’s a bit strange looking as it’s so flat and large. It was a big loving envelope of braised short ribs.
Who needs desserts when you’re a cocktailian?

Whoa whoa whoa… who needs desserts?! You can be a cocktailian and a sweet fiend!
That being said, I haven’t had the Blood Sugar Sex Magic yet.
