Little Tokyo: Chinese Food at Tangerine
I may have finally forgiven Chin Ma Ya for closing its ramen shop in Little Tokyo. I made it to Tangerine, the Chinese restaurant that has taken over the space. There were an assortment of lunch specials and it might possibly be in the future rotation of Downtown Los Angeles lunch spots. I do crave some good noodles every now and then and they had one-person hot pots as well.
For this lunch, I started out with a seaweed salad. It was pretty standard and I almost suspect it came out of a supermarket case.
I opted for the seafood noodles. The chow mein were done properly with crispy edges and the gravy would soften them up. It was a goodly sized portion and there probably would have been enough to take leftovers home but I rather greedily ate it all up.
Next time I do plan to ask to sit in the main dining room. I never liked the weird little side alley where they (and the old Chin Ma Ya) would stick a single diner.
