Melrose & Gower: Pour Vous is Now Open
Perhaps I was a bit premature in announcing Pour Vous was going to open last September. Months went by and we heard about the new projects from Steve Livigni and Pablo Moix like Plan Check and Blue Cow. But what about Pour Vous? I had always known Dave Fernie was going to be the bar manager but then other bartenders were soon linked to the new Pour Vous- Adrian Biggs from La Descarga, Devon Espinosa from ink and Lindsay Nader from Harvard & Stone. This crew was going to rock it out.
And they have for the last few weeks. I ran into Devon the day after Pour Vous opened at the Coop pop-up. He asked me why I hadn’t come in yet. I had to laugh. They had been open for one day! “But even Lindsay Lohan stopped by last night,” insisted Devon. Oh sure, how can I ever live up to LiLo. I’m glad I “finally” made it down last week. I hadn’t been to the bar when it was a dive across from the Paramount Studios. Now, it’s a classy French-themed bar devoted to cognac but so much more. Pages and pages of cocktails!
I love flips so I immediately ordered the Phloxera Flip (pastis, Benedictine, whole egg). Ah, it was so creamy- like a French milkshake.
Out back is the Trolley. Since it’s outside, it also serves as the smoking area. It would seem Pour Vous has thought of everything. Although I normally like to sit at the bar, I’d love to try to sit under the dome next time. Or there are more lounges and even what appeared a bi-level nook. After hearing the place was “petite,” I had to wonder about that statement. Of course, I was there after 11 p.m. on a Tuesday and though there were a lot of suits at the bar (Paramount execs?), it was relatively calm. Hey, what time does LiLo party?
Well, in any case, Pour Vous is open every night of the week. If you’re planning on coming with your entire posse, it might be a good idea to drop them a line to make reservations.
